ACKMA Conference 2009 - Margaret River

The next ACKMA Conference will be held in Margaret River, Western Australia from the 3rd May to the 9th May 2008.

Pre Conference Study Tour

The pre conference study tour is a day trip to Yanchep National Park, and includes bus transport to and from Yanchep, lunch, and cave entries. Activities will include a talk by Lex Bastion, and visits to Crystal Cave and Boomerang Gorge. Yanchep NP is a 45 minute drive north of Perth.

Post Conference Study Tour

The post conference study tour is three days in the Leeuwin Naturaliste area and includes accommodation, food and transport. Activities will include cave visits and karst surface walks to suit the interests of participants. Accommodation is at Glenbrook 5km south of Margaret River. Glenbrook offers Lodge / guesthouse accommodation in 8 rooms arranged around a central courtyard. There is a large well equipped self catering kitchen dining room. Please book promptly for the post conference study tour in order to secure the accommodation!

Transport to and from Margaret River

Transport may be arranged for people traveling to Margaret River on Sunday May 3rd and back to Perth on Saturday May 9th.

		Transwa has a bus service to Margaret River.
		
		1.       Leave Perth 12.20pm arrive Margaret River 5.45pm (Sun – Thurs)

From Margaret River

		Southwest Coachlines have a twice daily bus service to Perth.

The SW Coachlines is quicker as it is more direct. There is also a train service from Perth to Bunbury via Transwa.

Pre/Post Conference Perth Accommodation and bus pick up/set down.

A bus will collect participants for the pre conference visit to Yanchep from outside the Good Earth Hotel / Ambassador Hotel, Adelaide Tce Perth on Saturday morning and return to the same place Saturday afternoon.

A bus will collect people from outside the Good Earth Hotel on Sunday morning for the trip to Margaret River and return people to the same place on the following Saturday after the conference.

There are a few places close together along Adelaide Tce, so nice and close to the city centre and the river too. Good Earth Hotel has a range of rooms ...

Their two bedroom option sleeps up to 5 in 1 double and three single beds for a flat rate of $190.

Their one bedroom option sleeps up to 4, 1 double and 2 singles for a flat rate $165.

Their open plan apartment has 5 single beds (4 beds, one roll out) for a flat rate of $165.

These all have self contained kitchenettes.

The Perth Ambassador Hotel is right next door.

A double room there is $120 a night, as is a twin.

A deluxe double or deluxe twin is a $135 a night (newly refurbished rooms).

The Sheraton Hotel is also close by just in case anyone wants to treat themselves!

Twin and Standard King rooms are $205 a night.

Further way (0.5km) at Goderich St is YMCA Jewell House

Perth Airport City Shuttle runs between both domestic and international airports and will drop people at their city hotel, bus station or railway station.

The fee for transport from the domestic terminal to the city is: 1 person $15, 2 people $25

Also according to the Perth airport website a taxi fare from the Domestic airport to the City will cost around $26, from the International airport to the City around $33.
